Who am I?

I'm Sophie Massey — artist, creative director, and educator with a background in theatre, music, and sound design.

I earned my BFA from NYU Tisch School of the Arts with Honours, training at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting and studying Shakespeare at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. My education also took me to NYU Shanghai, where I explored global approaches to performance and storytelling across cultures.

My work lives at the intersection of three things I refuse to separate: making, directing, and teaching.

As an artist, I create work that bridges disciplines — live theatre, sound design, composition, and immersive media — with a particular obsession for reimagining classical forms for contemporary audiences.

As a creative director, I lead productions from first concept to final curtain. I direct talent, shape visual and narrative identity, and hold a creative vision across every element of a project — whether that's a stage in New York, a podcast in London, or a screen-based production designed to make complex ideas feel unforgettable.

As an educator, I believe that great teaching is its own form of performance. I design learning experiences the same way I design shows: with intention, structure, and a deep understanding of what it takes to hold an audience's attention and make something stick.

What connects all three is storytelling — and the conviction that the best stories don't just entertain. They change the way people see the world.
